How about an update on Sadie? I hope she's doing much better.

Sadie's doing as well as can be expected. She's had a lot of immune issues over the last few years, so we're used to giving her a little extra love and attention.

She surprises us every morning with renewed energy, demanding her Fancy Feast Turkey and Giblets. She's usually wiped out in evenings after dinner, though, content to rest next to our couch in front of the floor heater we set up for her. At bedtime, we bring her to bed, where she purrs and settles in next to our feet, ever sharing warmth.

At this point, we're just trying to give her the comforts of home for as long as possible. Plus, the boy is awfully fond of her (and has even taken on a motherly role towards her). Secretly, I pray for a miracle.

I was probably too vague before when I spoke about her visit to the vet. Partly, I just didn't want to verbalize the bad news, because then it would be true. It was the worst news, which Kirsten had suspected for a few weeks now. The vet didn't have many options or much hope for us, so we brought her home, intent on making the most of it. We've been here before, and what gives me hope is that I don't see the look of defeat in Sadie just yet.

So, while I'm not a praying person, I do believe that miraculous things can happen. Yet another paradox that Kirsten loves to point out :)

Thank you for asking, Gaia. Please pass along some extra ear scratching to Ms. Maya.
